What Dinged End User License Agreement
Effective 19 October 2026
This agreement is between you and Sean Bjers, doing business as ANQA Systems ("ANQA Systems", "we", "us"). It covers the What Dinged app, its browser extensions, and any updates we provide (together, "the Software"). By installing or using the Software, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't install or use it.
1. Free trial. You may use the full Software free for 14 days from the first time you open it. After the trial, the Software keeps running but hides which app or tab made each sound until you buy a license.
2. License. When you buy a license, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Software on up to 3 computers that you own or control. A license is for one person. You may move it between your own computers by deactivating it on one before activating it on another.
3. What you may not do. You may not sell, rent, lend, sublicense or share license keys; copy the Software except for normal backups; remove or work around the license check; or reverse engineer, decompile or modify the Software, except where the law allows it despite this restriction.
4. Ownership. The Software is licensed, not sold. We and our licensors keep all rights, title and intellectual property in it, except the rights this agreement grants you.
5. Updates. Your purchase includes all updates we release during the 12 months after the purchase date (your "update period"). Versions released during your update period are yours to use permanently under this license. Versions released after it ends require an update renewal, which extends your update period by 12 months. If you don't renew, the versions you already have keep working. We are not obliged to provide updates, support or future versions.
6. Your data. The Software records which app or browser tab made each sound and when, and keeps that history on your computer. It does not record audio. Our Privacy Policy explains exactly what is collected and the one case in which the Software contacts the internet.
7. Payment and refunds. Purchases are processed by Polar (polar.sh), our reseller and merchant of record, under its own buyer terms. You may request a full refund within 30 days of purchase, as described on our Refunds page. A refunded license stops working.
8. Third-party services. The browser extensions are distributed through the Chrome Web Store, Microsoft Edge Add-ons, Firefox Add-ons and Safari, and their use is also subject to those platforms' terms.
9. No warranty. The Software is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don't promise that it will identify every sound, or identify every sound correctly, or that it will run without interruption or error.
10. Limitation of liability. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits or revenue. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Software is limited to the amount you paid for it. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not fully apply to you.
11. Termination. This license ends automatically if you break these terms. When it ends, stop using the Software and delete it. Sections 4, 9, 10 and 12 continue to apply.
12. Governing law. This agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Connecticut, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Nothing here takes away consumer rights you have under the law where you live.
13. Changes. We may update these terms for future versions. The terms in effect when you bought your license apply to that purchase.
